Polishing

We polish out die marks, impact marks and dents so parts are smooth before plating.

01Overview

Polishing smooths out die marks, impact marks and dents on metal parts before they go into the plating tanks. A plated coating follows the surface underneath, so any mark left on the part still shows after plating — smoothing it first gives an even finish that passes inspection.

We use pneumatic polishers on parts of many sizes. With the plating lines in the same plant, polished parts go straight onto a plating line — no shipping between factories.

Our polishers work in full personal protective equipment — mask, gloves and apron.

07FAQ

Polishing questions

Can’t find your answer? Send us your part spec and we’ll take a look.

What parts need polishing?
Metal parts with die marks, impact marks or dents that have to be smoothed before plating.
Why polish before plating?
A plated coating is only a few microns thick and follows the surface underneath, so die marks, impact marks and dents still show after plating. Smoothing them first gives an even finish that passes inspection.
Can you polish and then plate in one place?
Yes. Polishing and our zinc and zinc-nickel plating lines are in the same plant, which cuts transport and total lead time.
What equipment do you use?
Our polishers use pneumatic polishers and work in full personal protective equipment.
What sizes and volumes can you handle?
Polishing size range and capacity: Data pending
